Storing Printer Ink Refills

It is actually very common for individuals to reuse the tape that came their first printer refill to attempt to store and protect other printer refill cartridges.

Although this technique is actually recommend by Lexmark, it poses several potential problems. By reusing the tape, the print head can actually cause ink to leak from the jet, which causes it to create another color within the jet. Other problems can include an excess of ink which is dispersed onto paper, or a strange color variation. Unlike Lexmark, Hewlett-Packard does not recommend reusing tape to store printer ink refills.
